Classic look: Shaker cabinets

We are planning a kitchen renovation and we really love the clean, timeless look of Shaker-style cabinets. However, we want to make sure they are well-made and not just a cheap imitation. Does anyone have experience ordering Shaker cabinets in Toronto? We want them to hold up well over the next decade. Should we look for specific paint finishes or wood types to ensure they stay looking good?

Shaker style is a classic for a reason, but the quality of the door construction makes a huge difference in whether they look dated or elegant after a few years. Check out https://alliancemillwork.ca/shaker-cabinets-toronto/ for some examples of high-quality craftsmanship in that style. A good shop will ensure the joints are solid and the finish is applied in a controlled environment, which prevents the cracking you see in lower-quality cabinet doors. Investing in better construction now prevents a lot of headaches later.
